Bristol City Council raised concerns about the archaeological potential of a site which was the subject of our client’s outline application for a major city-centre development, including the demolition of the existing building on the site. The client instructed Asset Heritage to prepare an Archaeological Desk-Based Assessment to address the council’s reservations and to advise on the appropriate level of archaeological recording required. Asset’s report included substantial archival and map research, HER trawls, and site visits.
The outline application was subsequently approved by the local planning authority, which noted the “very detailed archaeological desk-based assessment, which is extremely useful in assessing the archaeological potential of the site”.
